Hey there! My name is Sylvia Harr. I am a wellness advocate. My passion is to inspire women to step into a life of wellness, purpose and goodness by living a wholesome lifestyle. My mission is to help people ditch toxic chemicals by incorporating essential oils and essential oil-infused products into their everyday life.

First and foremost though, I am a child of God, devoted wife to an an amazing man and mama to 9 awesome children. They are my #1 priority in life. Our family is a blend of 3 biological children & 6 adopted children, ranging in age 2-24. In recent years, I have taken my role as gatekeeper of our home more seriously and with the help of God & my husband, intentionally made changes to the way we live.

So why did I choose to pursue a career as a wellness advocate? Why am I so passionate about a holistic lifestyle? Read on to hear why I chose this path.

Since as far back as I can remember, I have had an interest in holistic health & natural living. My natural bent to this kind of living may come from my upbringing in the Amish community! So when my son was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder at the age of two, my husband and I decided right away that we would find natural ways for him to manage his anxiety. We began researching & learning all the ways we could help him with stress levels and insomnia.

It was in that research when we first discovered essential oils. We tried a few essential oils like lavender, vetiver, and calming blends that we found at various health food stores & Amazon but didn’t have much success with them. It wasn’t until years later when we found ourselves in a high stress situation while caring for a foster child that we decided to give essential oils another try.

We were caring for a child that had all the symptoms of reactive attachment disorder (RAD) which caused so much chaotic behavior within our home & while on public outings. Our daily stress levels were so intense that it caused me to have my 1st panic attack and several panic attacks in my biological son & daughter. We had to find a product to help everyone in our household manage their stress right away.

A friend suggested we try an essential oil blend made by Young Living called Peace & Calming. We started using this blend in our household right away by diffusing it & applying it on the bottom of our children’s feet and saw a significant difference in their behavior right away. We were impressed so decided to try another oil blend called Stress Away. My husband and I started applying this oil to the back of our neck and wrists at night before bed and throughout the day whenever we felt our stress levels increasing. Again, right away, we noticed a big difference in our ability to remain calm when using the oil and even woke up feeling well rested on the mornings after we applied the oil before going to bed. We felt like we hit the gold mine of essential oils!

After seeing the success of these 2 oil blends + trying a sample bottle of Young Living’s Thieves cleaner and realizing that this cleaner could replace all of our toxic chemicals (we were required by our foster care agency to lock up all chemical cleaners & soaps. By switching to this natural cleaner, I would no longer have to unlock my cleaners to clean something!!), we were ready to try Young Living. My husband convinced me to buy a kit from Young Living because it made the most financial sense and we’ve never looked back!

We have been wholesale members for 3 years now! Their products have made such a difference in our home. Young Living has made the process of switching over to a natural lifestyle so easy by offering high quality, plant based products that I completely trust to use for myself and my family. I’m so grateful for how Young Living has helped us transform the way we live that I now help other women see if an essential oil infused lifestyle could be what their family needs too!

Here on this blog, I will be sharing ways we use essential oils in our home & provide oil education + toxic free living tips. Along with that, I will also be sharing our family’s journey in “cultivating haven” within our home through the practice of living a simple life. The simple life for us has been found through pursuing a holistic lifestyle that includes homeschooling, minimalism, farming and natural living.

  • To cultivate is to nurture and help grow. When you cultivate something, you work to make it better. To cultivate anything requires an attention to detail, an understanding of what is being cultivated, and a lot of patience.
  • Haven – A haven is a safe peaceful place, sanctuary, place of rest.

We are on a journey to live our very best life. Come along with us, my friends!
